After a whole lot of hustle and bustle, dealing with some crazy people in the airport, and two layovers we arrived at Johannesburg. Whoohoo! Jen, Nik, and Jin checked bags and surprise, surprise the airline lost them. NEVER taking Ethiopian Air again, well until this vacation is over anyway. So we made our way to our hostel, Bob’s Bunkhouse, which is awesome. We made our reservations for transportation and dinner and walked to KFC. Bob (the owner of Bob’s Bunkhouse) was a bit perplexed, “You guys are going to eat, you’re going to Carnivore in a few hours!” Sorry dude, we have been living in Uganda for a long time and we need to eat our faces off.
Okay so about Carnivore. There is this restaurant in Johannesburg where you can eat unlimited game meat. Sometimes they have concerts and other special events and there was a LEGITIMATE stampede there and three people died. Pretty crazy. But anyway, back to the food. So you sit down and they carry around huge slabs of meat on swords, and just keep bringing you more until you surrender and pull your food flag down. Since I am a herbivore, they brought me a huge thing of vegetarian lasagna, and some delicious rice curry dish. Everyone else enjoyed their zebra, impala, beef, pork, crocodile, chicken, kudu sausage, pork sausage, impala meatballs, antelope, and more… it was crazy/awesome. After we surrendered they brought us desert and we called it a night!
Today we met up with Galen and galavanted around Cape Town. This vacation is going to be INCREDIBLE! Tomorrow we are hiking Table mountain and going to the beach.
Cape Town is fabulous and I never want to leave.
